语法正确 ≠ 语言达标！
论文用软件检测后，虽然全部绿标，投稿后却被编辑要求润色，这是为什么呢？
其实，编辑的语言修改要求背后，是工具检测不到的深层问题：流畅度、学术规范、风格适配、科研写作规范等等……
今天我们就来看看，论文中有哪些隐藏的“语言问题”。
1 写作建议
1） Pay attention to the differences in
spelling between American English and British English.
注意区分英式英语和美式英语，具体撰写时看一下目标期刊的要求，看其倾向于使用美式or英式表达。如果目标期刊没有具体要求，至少需要做到的是论文全文一致，即全是英式或美式英语，不能混用。
2） 尽量避免在句首使用阿拉伯数字
❌41 Bordetella pseudohinzii strains were isolated from all the collected respiratory secretions.
✅A total of 41/Forty-one Bordetella pseudohinzii strains were isolated from all the collected respiratory secretions.
3） 不建议使用缩写
Use "can not", "should not", "were not" instead of "can't", "shouldn't", "weren't" respectively, etc.
4） Avoid double negation in a sentence（避免使用双重否定句）
❌This protein may not affect the biological features of cells without the synthesis of those growth factors.
✅This protein may affect the biological features of cells with the synthesis of those growth factors.
2 隐藏的语言问题
1）Subject-verb disagreement（主谓不一致）
❌The analysis of the results reveal a significant difference between the groups.
✅The analysis of the results reveals a significant difference between the groups.
❌Each of the samples were treated with the same dose of antibiotics.
✅Each of the samples was treated with the same dose of antibiotics.
All the samples were treated with the same dose of antibiotics.
2） The content referred to within the context is not clear（代词指代不明）
作者本人对科研内容非常清楚，可能自然而然会用一些代词指代前文的内容。但读者阅读时可能会存在不知道代词指代的内容的情况。
❌The concentrations ranged from 13,640 to 17,440 ng/L. This is slightly lower than the highest overall concentrations detected.
这句话中的"This"就指代不明，到底是指"13,640 ng/L"还是"17,440 ng/L"，还是"13,640 to 17,440 ng/L"。
❌The National Institute of Child Health has issued warnings about excessive internet use. Unfortunately, it has not been given much attention in the media.
这句话中的"it"指代的到底是儿童过度使用互联网这件事，还是整个前面这句话。
3） Piling up with nouns（名词堆砌）
中英文表达习惯存在差异，中文表达喜欢用很多名词作定语，将若干名词罗列在一起，如果英文表达中出现名词堆砌，会让句子表达非常不清楚。
❌Phloroglucinol, an lR-induced diabetic rat cardiac damage nutraceutical.
这句话中名词过多，主次不分，没有层次，没有结构，给读者造成了很大的理解负担。
✅Phloroglucinol, a nutraceutical for cardiac damage induced by ischemia-reperfusion in diabetic rats.
4） Overly-repeated use of "of ..." phrases（"of"介词短语的过度使用）
英文中的"of"就相当于中文中的“的”，中文文章一句话中也不能出现过多的“的”，如果两三个“的”并列使用，那这句话一定有问题。
❌In this study, we explored the requlation mechanism of protein turnover of skeletal muscle atrophy induced by hypoxia in rats.
✅In this study, we explored the regulation mechanism underlying protein turnover of skeletal muscle atrophy induced by hypoxia in rats.
其实，实际论文中的语言表达问题更加复杂多样，作者自己也难以意识到和主动避免。因此写完论文，自己检查过后，可以请老师朋友帮忙检查，或者直接找专业论文润色公司，请母语为英语的美国本土专业学术编辑进行润色校对，事半功倍！
